Boomlift / Manlift Nevada

Used Boom Lift Nevada - In terms of popular aerial machinery, the boom lift is one of the most recognizable. Also referred to as elevating work platforms, aerial devices, cherry pickers, mobile elevating work platforms and aerial work platforms, boom lifts are capable of completing jobs at higher elevations easily and efficiently. There are many places to find boom lifts at work including warehouses, contractors, various companies and in retail stores. Keeping workers safe as they access conditions in a higher altitude is priceless. The material handling industry offers many boom lift models. A single operator can control a variety of boom lift models. Boom lifts are beloved in the agricultural and orchard industries, used to harvest fruit without requiring a separate ladder, they keep workers much safer since there is not climbing or bucket balancing involved. It can be difficult to secure a ladder on farmland or in orchard settings. Harvesting fruit is much safer and simpler with a boom lift compared to using a ladder. Gaining Access Over Obstacles Certain boom lifts are designed to move up and over items. This makes working over obstacles possible Having the capacity to reach an object even when you are unable to maneuver the equipment directly underneath has a variety of applications including window cleaning, telephone pole and line installation and service, fixing overhead cables and numerous other industries. Articulated boom lifts are comprised of many joints that allow the machine to bend under or over obstacles. The articulated boom sections can move independently to grant operators access to many locations. Articulated booms feature a tight turning radius, making them ideal for hallways and narrow storage corridors. Dual-fuel models can work both inside and outside. Diesel versions are best suited outside and electric models are preferred for interior environments. Articulating Boom Lifts These boom lifts are popular for numerous construction and maintenance jobs. These machines are often seen servicing overhead wires and power lines. Firefighters may use these machines and some articulated boom lifts have water cannons. Maximum reach can be attained with telescoping boom sections on certain models. Some articulating boom lift models have an extra jib to enable their platform to reach six feet further in any direction. These boom lifts go by the nickname of “spiders,” since their legs can support the entire machine on steep or difficult terrain. Capable of fitting through doorways, interior articulating boom lifts are more compact and used commonly in storage, retail and warehousing applications. Interior models are typically electric boom lifts due to their lack of dangerous carbon monoxide exhaust and quieter features. Telescopic Boom Lifts Telescopic boom lifts do not bend the way articulating boom lifts do. These units use hydraulics to retract and extend outwards and upwards. No second operator is required as the platform operator can extend the lift with the controls. Some taller and larger models have a jib situated near the top that is similar to an articulating boom lift model. There are models on the market capable of reaching over 180 feet. In less than a minute, some models can reach their full extended height since these machines are so stable and reliable. Adjustable speed, along with varying weight range capacities from 500 to 1000 lbs. are available in dual-fuel and diesel options. Boom lifts can fit through tiny spaces and there are 4WD options on the market. In terms of combining height and reach, telescopic boom lifts are your best bet. Jib The jib is the extension found at the end of the main boom and between the platform. Certain models offer an additional articulation point or hinge that allows the platform to travel horizontally and vertically. Jibs are available on telescoping boom lifts and articulating boom lifts. Articulating boom lifts have a joint found approximately halfway between the platform and the wheels to allow it to reach over obstacles. The operator can lower the machine again afterward if required. Genie Articulating Boom Lifts The Genie Z-boom model is a common kind of articulating boom lift that can be found on the market. This model features excellent mobility and is capable of accessing hard to reach areas. The machine can lift up, over and out with ease, making difficult locations easy to work with. The first Genie Z-30/20 articulating Z-boom model was launched in 1985. Thanks to their “up an over” abilities, they have gained the ultimate popularity that continues today. Proper Safety Measures Of course, safety is the highest priority when operating any type of boom lift. All known safety hazards must be known to anyone working within the vicinity. Operating the equipment safely is vital for the operator and everyone in the vicinity. Proper safety gear and communication need to be completed prior to operating. Be aware of any battery gases, engine fuels, combustible items, lit cigarettes or open flames near the machine and do not operate if any flammable or combustible items are present. For the ultimate safety, it is important to have a visible, safely mounted and accessible fire extinguisher within the operators reach. Maintaining a clear area around charging stations and work surfaces is important as tools or clutter could damage the boom lift or cause tire punctures etc. Daily Maintenance Daily maintenance includes a visual inspection and consulting the maintenance manual to ensure the machine is up to date and will operate safely. Lifting and supportive devices need to stabilize the weight on hand. Fasteners, straps and chains must be regularly checked to make sure they are safe working order. Single use components and fasteners cannot be reused due to their risk of failure. Discarded solvents and oils must be disposed of safely and in an approved container to prevent environmental contamination. Adequate ventilation and lighting are essential in garages, workshops and along workbenches. Typically the wide umbrella of maintenance is distinguished by subsections such as Commissioning and Programmed Maintenance Intervals, Annual Maintenance, and Quarterly Maintenance. Maintenance Inspection Report The boom lift components are divided and categorized to streamline the process of inspection. Some of the maintenance categories for the boom lift include the Engine, Platform, Controls and Function, Turntable, Booms and Drive Chassis. Not complying with routine maintenance can put the operator at a huge safety risk, lead to damaged components, terrible performance and preventable downtime. The maintenance inspection report extend the performance and service life of the machine and needs to be accurately maintained to ensure the machine is safe to run and that the machine is capable of performing properly. A list of single maintenance procedures that need to be conducted at 50-hour and 150-hour intervals is known as commissioning. There is quarterly and annual maintenance protocol that is conducted once or many times during the year. Maintenance procedures are based on the operating hours of the boom lift and programmed maintenance may be conducted during pre-delivery machine preparation. Set yourself up for success by consulting your maintenance manual before operating the equipment to ensure battery life, oil changes and fluid levels are ready to go. Boomlift / Manlift PDF
