Forklift Tire Specs
Forklifts have been an essential device in industry and commercial businesses since the year 1917. During its history the forklift has changed through various forms, from a basic tractor with a platform attachment to a particular high-tech machine. Forklift tires have also evolved into particular tires, with different types designed to suit specific applications.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is constructed of rubber or solid polyurethane and is suitable for indoor applications on smooth surfaces. The tread of a cushion tire is pressed or binded onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated ease of steering and for different load capacities. Cushion tires are normally used within warehouse atmosphere.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with air or foam. They are offered in two types: radial or bias. Depending upon the use, they are available with various sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Pneumatic forklift tires which are filled with foam are less prone to punctures and maintain constant pressures. Pneumatic tires are usually utilized outdoors on rough, uneven surfaces.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
Solid Pneumatic Hybrid tires combine the puncture resistance of a solid tire with the comfortable ride of a pneumatic tire. They are a good option to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Utilized on wheel loader forklifts are big rubber tires that can either be pneumatic, solid or foam. These types of tires are best for loading and moving bulk objects onto trucks or into processing equipment. Large flotation pneumatic tires are suited for masted rough terrain forklifts usually utilized at construction sites, auto recyclers and lumberyards.
