On a forklift, there can be a range of different mechanisms that raise and lower the lifts, including: scissors lifts, rack and pinion lifts, screw lifts, telescoping lifts and articulated lifts. The scissor lift utilizes crisscrossed folding supports with a screw system that draws the members together. Rack and pinion lifts use a pinion, that is a small drive gear, to drive a straight-toothed rack to raise the load. The telescoping lift mechanism is made with multiple sections which extend and retract out of and into each other to achieve lifting action. Screw lifts utilize threads to raise the lift. Articulated lifts use a system that involves multiple sections that unfold or articulate. An example of an articulated lift is the "cherry picker."
Forklift Material Handling
There are a lot of reasons to keep up with innovations in material handling methods. Material handling processes and the machinery could be used to handle increased geographical coverage, more SKUs, and the need to lower inventories. Machinery which are well ahead of the technological curve could help maximize productivity and increase profitability.
Forklift Battery & Charging Technology
The latest innovations on electric lift trucks have yielded longer run-times and higher capacities than ever before, which makes the choice to convert from the traditional internal combustion forklift over to the improved electric models. Charger and battery combinations are offering more power for a lot longer periods than older systems were capable of accomplishing. Enhancements in both charger and battery technologies are not just making electric forklifts more beneficial but they are making it possible to have more environmentally friendly warehouse operations.
The electric powered machines utilize Li-ion batteries or Lithium-Ion batteries. The Li-ion batteries show remarkable promise, but this technology is still quite new. They are not just smaller but are capable of holding up to six times the charge of standard lead acid batteries. Li-ion batteries have extremely low maintenance requirements and can maximize opportunity charging through zero memory technology.
