Reach Truck
In order to keep storage places orderly and to pile up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck can be utilized. The reach truck comes in quite a few kinds: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic kind is the stand-up. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This model consists of telescopic forks intended to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet has to go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide underneath the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This particular model is best in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Within the majority of warehouses, there are usually more than one kind of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and could increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
