Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on a straight, extendable arm that is situated on a rotating turntable. Normally, telescoping boom lifts are used for jobs that require reaching at maximum height, exceeding other kinds of lifts. For example, employees are able to carry out exterior repairs or renovations on buildings of medium height but using these lifts as opposed to having the extra work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift bucket usually only holds a single worker. These buckets are better suitable to particular tasks such as electrical repair, as opposed to general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available with both outdoor and indoor tires and are available in gas or electric configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Below the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the machine gets its name. Once the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. Because these machinery should be directly positioned under the work location, these units are way more limited in their use as opposed to boom lifts.
The scissor lift typically has a larger platform which allows the operator to control the lift to access a bigger work area when the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a problem with these kinds of machinery, since they have to sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for cladding or window installation, because they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a good option for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The cherry picker or boom truck refers to the utility vehicle usually used to lift workers for different tasks done at heights. Generally, these types of trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and controls the machine. There is a bucket for where the worker could stand along with an actuator arm for raising the boom and a winch for lifting.
Cherry pickers could raise employees up to heights which were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to raise both heavy supplies and equipment for one place to another. There are a variety of different crane types that could carry out a variety of purposes. Both of these different types of machines excel at various tasks and are suitable for particular applications and accomplishing particular jobs.
